Why would visitors read only 20 percent of the content on your site?

How many times have you visited a site and literally scanned it?

The answer is simple - visitors usually search for quick answers when browsing the Internet. There are answers to most of the questions on the Internet, so people want to do their own research and quickly find the answer they need. In short, they prefer a quick review and notice something that is more attractive to the eye. There is a need for improved digital marketing strategies to ensure that visitors stay on your site. But first, let's try to understand - why don't visitors stay on your site longer?

Why aren't visitors reading all the content on my site?

The most important reason for this is that most visitors won't read long lines of text, especially if it's online content. It would be tiring for the reader and not as comfortable as reading a book or magazine.

Another reason is that users are looking for something very specific when they go online. They are looking for information that is easy to find, easy to understand and easy to acquire. Visitors will not waste time reading the entire article, even if their knowledge of the subject is minimal. The last thing you want is to get your site visitors to come and go instead of spending extra time browsing the content of your site.

Visitors want an answer now!

Imagine you want to install a new sound system in your car. You want the search engine to provide an answer to this question. Once you find the site that will attract the most attention, you will click on it and start searching for the answer you want. In most cases, if a user does not see what they are looking for within 20 seconds, they will leave that particular site and look for another source of information.

Check out the model on hte picture. This is an example of what people usually look at when they visit web pages:

It's just one pattern - of course, there are many different types of eye drawings, depending on what the user is looking for and what attracts them most. However, in this model, you can clearly see where users are focusing - what they find attractive and what comes first.

Website owners need to understand why this is happening, how they can prevent this kind of situation, and finally use the right strategy to keep visitors on their website.

How do I keep these types of users?

The secret to keeping these users and getting them to stay beyond the average statistical time is to create content that will appeal to the visitor and generate interest in them.

First impressions are the most important, so make sure they are the best.

One of the first things you need to consider if you want to keep your visitors:

Create a compelling headline that will automatically attract visitors and generate clicks.

Create small paragraphs because readers only read the first few lines of each paragraph.

Use pictures that explain your text. People find the images more interesting because in most cases they can be very descriptive. After all, 1 image is worth of 1000 words.

Create the perfect landing page. This is the first thing a visitor to your site will see right away. Seduce them with your headline, hold them with subtitles, images and graphics. Use buttons that your visitors will notice, and finally promote your social networks, as people tend to follow or subscribe before opting for any kind of engagement.

Highlight the highlights in bold or italics.

Bullet points help if there is specific information - they are usually easier to remember.

To help viewers find what they are looking for, you need to use simple and understandable language.

Use a clear, easy-to-use navigation system to help users make faster decisions about how valuable or useful your site content is to them.

Give them spoilers. Explain clearly what you are selling and what your services are. Once they have decided to stay on your website, just go into the details.
